The Natural Secrets of Aruba On Big Screen at Cas di Cultura

IMG01.jpgMarch is the month dedicated to Aruba with the highlight on March 18, the day of the Anthem and Flag. Nevertheless, for Aldrich Croes of foundation "E Brug", (The Bridge) the Aruba National Day is much more than our National Flag and Anthem. It is about what they symbolize, namely the island itself.

Croes and his foundation will feature "The Natural Secrets of Aruba", during a four-day presentation in the Cas di Cultura in Oranjestad.

"The Natural Secrets of Aruba", is a documentary that not only honors the Aruba natural environment, but also certainly aims to make community aware of the raw beauty and value of Aruba's natural secrets.

The documentary maker was assisted by popular tour guide and former Parke Nacional Arikok head ranger Eddie Croes, who along with known Aruban elder Janny Coffie, took Aldrich Croes and his film crew to the quite unknown corners of Aruba, areas that not even many Arubans are aware of. Both are also featured in the documentary. Aldrich Croes said his interest in making this nature film of Aruba was born after visiting Mr. Coffie, who lives at the edge of the civilization here right at the border with Parke Nacional Arikok.

Mr. Coffie is known on the island for his vast understanding of Aruba's nature and natural medicine, particularly. He was the one who took the documentary maker to some of the most spectacular parts of the island to enjoy a breathtaking sunrise amidst the hills of Parke Nacional Arikok, to marvel with the inspiring music orchestrated by local birds, and to experience a dramatic change in landscape after a strong rainfall. Eddy Croes on the other hand takes the viewer to the Triple Natural Bridge, and a black pebble beach very few people have ever seen, except for those who accompanied the tour guide in his nature walks.

Aldrich Croes said his film would open the eyes to the wondrous beauty of Aruba and hopes the community will respond, as it will allow them to appreciate the richness of Aruba's flora and fauna, things that many are not even conscious of. "E Brug" produced the documentary, and ECA Production Studio was in charge of filming and editing.

It was filmed over the course of years and "and now this artwork in homage of our nature is ready" according to Aldrich Croes. The showing days are from March 15 through the 18 and entrance fee is 15 florins (US$ 9) per person. Proceeds go to foundation "E Brug" which aims to produce informative and educative materials dedicated to the Aruban Youth.
