PALM BEACH, ARUBA (FEBRUARY 26, 2010) – On Thursday February 25th Aruba Marriott’s management team and associates said their goodbyes to John Woolley at his favorite hang-out on the island, Café 080 in Noord. Earlier in the day the Sales, Marketing & Reservations team that reported to Woolley, surpised him during a Sales meeting with an unexpected visit of the Skydive Aruba team who took John for a skydive as a last farewell to his beloved island.
Woolley served at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino as Director of Sales & Marketing for nearly 2,5 years. He will continue his career in Mumbai, India as Area Director of Sales & Marketing. In his new role Woolley will oversee all marketing efforts for 10 Marriott hotels in India, 6 properties in Malysia and 2 in Pakistan. In addition he’ll be supporting the launch of 7 new Marriott hotels & resorts that are set to open in the next 12 months in India along with the opening of a 106-villa Marriott property on the Maldives. Another strong focus in his new role will be developing local talent.
Among his many accomplishments, John and his team achieved record sales and marketing results for the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino that went through a major 50-million overhaul from 2007-2009. He was also in charge of Tradewinds Club, a new hotel within a hotel concept that openend September 2008, providing guests with a more exclusive and upscale vacation experience.
Prior to his position at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, Woolley served as Director of Sales & Marketing of the New York Marriott Financial Center. Woolley first joined the Marriott team in 2000 as Director of International Accounts where he managed key Global Accounts for eight Marriott Hotels in New York City. In 2003, he was promoted to the position of Director of Sales and Marketing of the Renaissance New York Hotel Times Square. Woolley was also responsible for re-positioning and changing the business mix for the New York Marriott post-September 11th.
John will be missed in Aruba and the Marriott team wishes him, his wife Adrienne and 3 children all the best in India and continued success in his new role.
