(PALM BEACH, November 4th, 2009) – On November 1st 2009 during the pink walk organized for the Mary Joan Breast Cancer Foundation, Marriott’s Ocean Club & Surf Club Activities Manager Shuraima Henriquez donated a check of 7,040 florins to Ms. Enrita Werleman, President of the Mary Joan Breast Cancer Foundation.
During the month of October Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club Activities department dedicated their time and devotion to organize weekly events on Thursdays to create awareness for the Breast Cancer awareness month and to support local foundation Mary Joan Breast Cancer.
With activities such as creating pink ribbon tye die T-Shirts and pink ribbon beads, funds were raised by the Activities department. Calendars, T-shirts, cakes and other merchandise were sold to generate more donations. The final event for the breast cancer awareness month took place on October 22nd with a pink walk organized by Marriott. Other participating hotels, Playa Linda, La Cabana, Holiday Inn, the Mill Resort, Radisson, Hyatt, Amsterdam Manor, the Aruban and AHATA joined the “hotels for a cure” pink walk. The walk route started between the road between La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club and Amsterdam Manor on Eagle Beach and ended its path at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino.

Afterwards, Marriott hosted an amazing balloon fashion show. With cooperation of the KOMA models, beauty team and MC of the fashion show, Rona Coster, beautiful dresses made of balloons by Marriott’s Surf Club Activities Supervisor Gislaine Croes were presented in Marriott Resort’s lobby. This never-done-before event in Aruba was a great success with all proceeds donated to the Mary Joan Breast Cancer Foundation.

A special thank you goes out to Marriott’s Surf Club Activities team for the excellent job they have done in October supporting the Mary Joan Breast Cancer Foundation and raising over 7,000 florin.
