Access Art and Fundacion Pro Crea invites you this Wednesday night to the presentation of Dick Tuinder.

Born in 1963 , Dick Tuinder can best be described as a visual artist, writer, essayist, and filmmaker.

He graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 1988 and has numerous exhibitions and publications to his name.

This Wednesday night we will be presenting 5 recent short films which have all been presented on film festivals in The Netherlands and internationally.

1.Later,(8 minutes). Constructed with animation and filmed material reflecting the artist as a child. Out of a traumatic experience the timelessness and self-assuredness in his world fall apart as he discovers the up to this point indefinable and mysterious later.This short film was made on commission by the Music Ensemble Brisk which supplied specific music composed by Indonesian-Dutch composer Roy Kushel.

2. Rimbaud In Amsterdam,( 6 minutes). Filmed from behind a bedroom window the actions of five young men showing the complex relation between them. Is it a dance or a fight? With original music by Ramon Dos Santos.

3.Most Things Never Happen,( 11 minutes). “Reality always happens when you least expect it. And than when it happens, it mostly don’t” Where are the things kept that never happens. Sally De Winter, a nine year old girl is out to find out this question, through a magic door , to the “backstage of reality”.

4.Space, ( 24 minutes).A surreal and spontaneous report on the exhibition Sanctuary Mental Space by Tuinder and Kaganof in the Central Museum of Utrecht. Space is the third part of the catalogues

5.Music For the Blind, ( 9 minutes). Film registration of the world premiere of the “compositie in braille” by Ramon Dos Santos interpreted by Tomoko Mukaiyama during the exhibition “Sanctuary Mental Space”

Some recent exhibitions and presentations have been the World Wide Video festival Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam 1999, Museum van Bomel van Dam , Venlo 2003,

Nostalgie & Paranoia (2001), portrait of Daniel Clowes, VPRO TV, “The Making Of Peaches”

(2003) portrait of poster ”peaches” VPRO TV.

Recent publications in Groene Amsterdammer, Vrij Nederland, De Revisor, De Volkskrant, De Verenigde Sandbergen.

He is also one of the founders and editor of (1991-2004) PARK4DTV

Dick Tuinder is currently on aruba in connection with a Cultural exchange program made possible by Mondriaan Stichting , Stichting Doen , Bernhard Cultuurfonds , and Fonds Voor de Beeldende Kunst Amsterdam and coordinated locally by the Insight Foundation For The Arts Aruba.
