Punta Brabo Legendary hotelier Ike Cohen will be celebrating his 95th birthday this year with a mega fund raiser, the Manchebo Beach Resort, Charity Fair. The annual celebration raises funds for community projects and this year Ike has singled out the White & Yellow Cross as the recipient of the donations. At a recent press conference, held at the Manchebo French Steakhouse, hotelier Ed Malone, Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association Director of Special Projects revealed many exciting party plans, including an on line auction, commemorative posters and top notch entertainment. Band leader Claudius Phillips and his band OREO will entertain, in conjunction with Willie Polanka and the Cooks, the Manchebos own employees band. The resorts culinary teams will cater the party with unlimited food and drink made available all night.
All party expenses will be born by the birthday boy, Malone states, so that all funds raised from ticket sales at Afls 125 per person, can do directly to charity. Ikes not for profit foundation, has been working in conjunction with CEDE Aruba to turn every florin raised here into four, courtesy of the Dutch development fund. While Ike identifies the projects and raises seed money here, CEDE Aruba pitches in with four times as much. Projects spearheaded that way included Meals on Wheel, the old folks home Marie Stella, Favi, a facility for the visually handicapped and many more. The press conference was entertained by the Cooks and samples of the new Italian menu served on the garden terrace and devoured by the press included Delizia del Mar, Calamari Fritti, and Mozzarella Caprese. The press had a lot of fun and is looking forward to the party.
