November 11 at 11:11am the season of carnival officially opened. Last Sunday festivities began on Arashi beach and later continued to the Olde Molen complex in Palm Beach where various groups showcased their costumes and themes for the upcoming revelries. Carnival events will officially begin on January 5 with different events taking place leading up to the grand parade. An explosion of color, music and creativity can be seen as the masqueraders takes the streets.

Last Sunday, Miss Larissa Leeuwe were amongst the five participants that competed for the Miss Aruba 2013 title at the Alhambra Convention Center. The Convention Center was all glamor and glitter for the event as contestants competed on all levels for the title to honor Aruba in the Annual Miss Universe Pageant. Apart form winning the title of Miss Aruba 2013, Larissa Leeuwe also won four different categories before being crowned. First runner up Miss Mishelle Motta will also represent Aruba in the upcoming Miss World Competition in Indonesia. Congratulations to all the participants.

San Nicolas Medical Center expanding their medical services

The Institute Medical San Nicolas (IMSAN) is in full swing expanding the services. The aim is to operate and provide care to the residents in San Nicolas and neighboring districts when it gets very busy at the Emergency Care at the Hospital. Many people already head to San Nicolas for the emergency help they need. As part of the expansion process future plans for IMSAN will include a full fledged oncology department for the treatment of cancer and a cancer unit that will provide radiotherapy. This will enable IMSAN to assist many more patients in cooperation with Dr. Horacio Oduber Hospital.
